About Us

Ashgrove & The Gap are Western Suburbs of Brisbane.Ashgrove-The Gap Men’s Shed commenced regular meetings (as Ashgrove Men’s Shed) in November 2012.  It was initially sponsored by Bluecare Ashgrove and the Lions Club of Ashgrove/The Gap, and while operating independently, was situated in Bluecare’s facility in Ashgrove.  The valuable support of both those organisations was instrumental in getting the Shed up and running. In November 2015 the Shed moved to new facilities at 98 Yoorala Street, The Gap, and changed its name to Ashgrove/The Gap Men’s Shed Inc.  At Yoorala Street, our meeting and activities room is a Brisbane City Council facility that we share with other community groups, and we have built a dedicated new workshop on the site. Our membership is drawn from men living in local suburbs, and we currently meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am.

We have an active committee that works to ensure the Shed is properly managed. They work toward providing facilities and support for member activities in a safe and responsible environment.  Activities include discussion group, book club, walking group, bike group, guest speakers, workshop and regular social functions.  See this website for the details of the broad range of Shed activities.New members and visitors are welcomed so that each person participates and contributes in accordance with their interests and skills. Members are welcome to join any sub-group simply to learn about it or to contribute special knowledge or experience. We value and respect all knowledge and experience – for the priceless assets they are.
